The Profit Letters

My family is obsessed with musical theater.  Two of my youngest daughters are so into musical theater that, honestly, “obsessed” might be an understatement.  So last weekend was a great weekend: we caught a teen production of Hadestown on Friday and followed it up with the Broadway touring cast of Mamma Mia on Saturday.

Both shows were entertaining.
Both shows were heartbreaking.
And both painfully showcased the real consequences of bad choices. But let’s talk about Mamma Mia for a second.

Donna—beautiful, fierce, and totally convinced she had to do it all on her own.

She raised a daughter without ever telling her who the father was.
She built a business in a crumbling villa—with zero help.
She wore her independence like armor—but underneath? There was grief. Exhaustion. And a whole lot of regret.

The lyric that hit me like a punch in the gut?

“One of us is crying… thinking she was better off alone.”

And I couldn’t help but think:
That was me too.

When I ran my own business, I thought I was doing great. From the outside, everything looked fine. But inside? I was avoiding my finances. Cash flow was tight.  I never felt in control—just constant stress.

And the worst part?
I told myself I should be able to do it alone. That asking for help was weakness.

But it wasn’t until I read the book Profit First that I realized the truth:
If I wanted to build a profitable business—not just a busy one—I needed financial support.

I ended up reaching out to the author and got connected with someone who helped me implement Profit First specifically for small business owners like me. It changed everything.

Today, I’ve built an entire accounting team that’s laser-focused on building profitability—not just tracking expenses. We don’t just crunch numbers—we help entrepreneurs create a business that finally pays them well.

So if you’re out there hustling like Donna—working 24/7, running a great service, keeping your clients happy—but still wondering where the money went…Let me say this:
You don’t have to go it alone.

Your first step?
Book a CFO Strategic Finance Review.

We’ll look at your numbers, tell you exactly where to start, and map out a path toward financial clarity. No stress. No judgment. Just clarity.
Because you deserve to build a business that doesn’t eat you alive.

P.S. Mamma Mia is a lot more fun when you’re not secretly breaking down on a Greek island. 😅 Let’s make sure your business is working for you, not against you.
